About the Business
Based in South Fremantle, our client is an innovative modular construction enterprise specializing in high-efficiency, 10-star, steel-framed modular buildings. As part of a strategic transition from on-site construction to advanced manufacturing, they are expanding their team and seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Programmer to take complete ownership of their light-gauge steel roll-forming operation.
Role Overview
This is an autonomous, hands-on role where you will manage, program, set up, and operate a brand-new Howick CNC machine. You will convert CAD designs into cold-rolled steel components, ensuring strict adherence to technical drawings, engineering specifications, and precision tolerances.
Key Responsibilities:

CNC Operation & Programming: Program, set up, and run the Howick CNC machinery, generating efficient toolpaths from CAD designs using CAM software.

Manual Machining: Operate manual workshop machinery as required for specialized component fabrication.

Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret structural engineering drawings, CAD files, and technical specifications.

Quality & Precision Control: Select cutting/forming tools, adjust parameters, and perform post-production inspections using precision measuring instruments to maintain tight tolerances.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Identify and resolve machining anomalies, perform routine preventative maintenance, and complete quality assurance documentation.

Safety & Continuous Improvement: Maintain high workplace safety standards and contribute to workflow optimization within an ISO-aligned manufacturing environment.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a trade-qualified professional who takes pride in producing high-quality work and managing dedicated equipment independently.
Qualifications & Experience:

Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (or equivalent trade qualification).

Demonstrated experience in CNC programming, setup, and operation (CAM software fluency required).

Proficiency in manual machining and reading complex technical drawings.

Proven track record in holding close tolerances and using precision measuring equipment.

Familiarity with ISO-accredited quality management systems (highly regarded).

Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and commitment to workplace safety.
